Abstract:
Huangshiguan gold deposit in Shanyang County is another ore deposit found in the new metallogenic background at the eastern part of the South Qinling metallogenic belt. The ore bodies occur in the altered breccia composed by a set of impure carbonate rocks with calcareous silty slate in the second lithologic layer of the upper member of the Upper Ordovician Liangchakou Formation and controlled by the overturning end of Huangshiguan anticline and its interbedded fracture zone, from which seven ore bodies have been found along the same tectonic layer, roughly equivalent to the stratum status. The ore bodies appear in layered, lenticular and thin-bedded shapes with an average grade of the gold 3.33-18.5 ×10-6 and the ore type belongs to altered breccia type. Based on the geological characteristics of the deposit and comparison between the gold deposit and typical Carlin-type gold deposits founded in the world, it is concluded that the basic characteristics of the deposit are consistent with Carlin-type gold deposits. In this paper, the ore-controlled factors and gold enrichment rule of the deposit have been summarized for further expanding the scale of the deposit and ore prospecting at peripheral areas.
