Study on the characteristics and development height of the Caved Zone and water-conducting fracture zone in mining No.38 coal seam at Xiaobaoding coal mine, Sichuan province

    • This research takes the 12383 working face of Xiaobaoding Coal Mine as the engineering background. It systematically explores the development characteristics of the caved zone and water-conducting fracture zone in the No.38 coal seam after mining through a comprehensive application of three technical methods: empirical formula prediction, borehole peeping measurement, and numerical simulation. The results show that: the maximum development heights of the caving zone and water-conducting fracture zone predicted by empirical formulas are 8.23 m and 35.30 m, respectively; the maximum heights obtained by borehole peeping measurements are 9.19 m and 37.10 m in sequence; and the maximum heights calculated by numerical simulation are 9 m and 40 m. The results obtained by the three methods are in good agreement. The research results can provide a basis for coal mines to formulate mine water prevention and control plans and safety risk management and control measures for water hazards.
